Position Overview The Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant . This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. This position reports to the Principal Inverstigator. The Research Assistants primary purpose is to assist the Principle Investigator and support the research team through providing semi-skilled or skilled technical procedures. This may include conducting laboratory tests, experiments and analysis to assist in the goals of the research. The Research Assistant will record findings to collaborate on publications within the field of the research in both a national and international level. Research Assistants will conduct medical laboratory tests, experiments and analyses. Success in the role will require some judgment and decision making, following procedures and guidelines set by the PI, and extensive daily collaboration with the research team. Position Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to): Under general supervision & direction of the PI, develop and implement original experiments within the guidelines of the research Conduct literature review, surveys, laboratory experiments and other research for us in scholarly publications when required to Establishes and maintains effective, productive relationships with staff, peers, immediate supervisor and senior management and with the campus community. Manages own time effectively and ensures immediate reports to manager is kept informed of activities, and progress of work. Demonstrated strong communication, team and customer service skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines. Understanding of safety codes, standards, and systems related to specialization Qualifications / Requirements: Bachelors Degree or MSc in the machine learning field with at least 3 years of in-depth programming experience with the above methods. Ability to multi-task and deal with multiple simultaneous priorities in an efficient and effective manner. Requires strong organizational and time management skills, accuracy, and strong attention to detail. Interact with other members of the team and undertake literature reviews Knowledge of theory and practical application of technical procedures Must be open to learning and development, and be willing to accept new challenges and assignments.
